Biography

As Country Director for Humanity and Inclusion (HI) in Cambodia, Edith van Wijngaarden is representing the organization and promoting all aspects of its mandate in the country, defines and implements its operational strategy, manages its teams and is in charge for the internal and external communication. At the moment, HI's activities are implemented in Kampong Cham and Tboung Khmum Province which allows the organization to provide a comprehensive approach to improve the quality of life of vulnerable people, especially people with disabilities.

With almost 30 years of experience as development professional, Edith is focusing on improving the access to services for vulnerable people, complementing the activities of the Royal Government of Cambodia and in close collaboration with other national and international Stakeholders. She is managing a team of around 65 people. She is working for HI since 1990, occupying different positions in different countries in Africa and Asia. Before joining HI Cambodia in August 2017, she has been working as Regional Country Director for HI in the Philippines, Indonesia and Timor Leste.

Edith holds a bachelor's degree in Physical therapy.
