Co-Chair of Session 8. Land Release: Innovative Technology and Methodology
Stanislav (Stan) Damjanovic joined the GICHD in September 2017 as an Advisor for Land Release and Operational Efficiency. His work focuses on non-technical and technical survey and various clearance methods, including manual, mechanical and animal detection systems. His portfolio consists of planning and delivering projects that assist national authorities to develop and improve clearance solutions and country relevant surveys in order to increase their operational efficiency. Additionally he provides technical advice to national authorities, United Nations, non-governmental organisations and other mine action stakeholders on various topics related to Land Release and Operational Efficiency and identifying the best practices. Together with other colleagues in Risk Management division, he participates in research and development of various courses related to Mine Action.
Prior to joining the GICHD, Stan Damjanovic worked for over ten years in Mine Action with The HALO Trust, managing operations and programmes in Somaliland, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Central African Republic, Turkey and Jordan (Syria response). Stan Damjanovic holds a BA in Political Science from University of Belgrade.
He speaks English, Serbian and basic French.
