Biography

Nick Beresford is UNDP's Country Director in Cambodia. He manages a $20 million per annum programme that supports the Royal Government of Cambodia and other partners in a wide range of services including development and economic policy, environmental protection, and climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Nick comes with 16 years experience within the UN system, mostly in country offices, and a background in economics and finance. Prior to his assignment in Cambodia in December 2016, Nick served as Deputy Country Director in Bangladesh where he managed a complex $40 million programme based in Dhaka. From October 2010 to August 2013, he was Head of Office in Garowe, Puntland, for UNDP Somalia. From May 2007 to October 2010, he served as Deputy Country Director for UNDP Timor-Leste. From January 2003 to May 2007, he was Chief of Country Office Accounting Services, for UNDP Office of Finance, BoM, New York. Previous roles include working for UNFPA, International Planned Parenthood Federation and private sector accounting firms in London.

He holds Master of Science in Development Economics from the University of Sussex in United Kingdom. He also holds degrees in audit and accountancy and English literature. As Country Director, Nick is responsible for day-to-day management of UNDP and reports to the UN RC/UNDP Resident Representative, Pauline Tamesis.
